The Captain

Capt. Ron's roots to Maine go way back. He is descended from a long line of sea captains on both sides of his family. He learned about boats and the sea at an early age from his grandfather and great-grandfather, both lobster and fisherman Down East. He joined the US Coast Guard after graduating from high school. He was stationed throughout New England and did a lot of his service on the Coast of Maine. Some of his assignments have taken him to a fog signal station, four lighthouses, six search and rescue stations, a buoy tender, and a security detachment for two presidents. After retiring with over 20 years of service, he fell in love with Mid-Coast Maine and settled in Bristol. Prior to his retirement from the Coast Guard he obtained his US Coast Guard Captain's License. He has gone on to work or run a variety of boats from Nova Scotia to Norfolk, Virginia consisting of commercial assistance tow boats, tug boats, ferry boats, excursion boats and even a research vessel along with being a private captain on several recreational boats. His goal of saving a piece of US Coast Guard Maritime history has finally come true. Come cruise with Capt. Ron on his 36' USCG Motor Lifeboat!
